Ceremonial Grade Cacao is pure 100% cacao with no additives or blends. Cacao Wisdom's Ceremonial Grade Cacao has nothing added and nothing removed from the original cacao beans. They are simply ground into paste which then hardens into the blocks we sell. There are no preservatives, chemicals, milks, sugar or anything else added.
This is considered Ceremonial Grade, because this is traditionally what the Mayans and other Central American cultures used in cacao ceremonies. They drank the cacao as a hot drink served in a clay cup. This pure unaltered cacao was traditionally mixed with water. They also sometimes added in cardamom and achiote or sprinkled chili powder on top.
